Quick, really cheap and oh-so-simple to make, flapjack is such a traditional British recipe. It’s great to make with little ones because it’s so easy, and I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t like it!
Tip: I’ve left mine plain, but flapjack is great with all sorts of fillings, such as raisins, walnuts, dried apricots, and even chocolate chips!
Makes: obviously this depends on how big you cut your flapjack, but I got twenty good sized pieces out of mine.
Cost per piece: £0.06 (price based on Tesco Value ingredients).
Ingredients:
- 200g butter
- 6 tbsp golden syrup
- 330g oats
Method
1) Preheat the oven to 180C.
2) Melt together the butter and golden syrup on a very low heat.
3) Stir the butter and syrup mixture into the oats.
4) Evenly spread the mixture into a baking dish, lined with greaseproof paper.
5) Bake in the oven for about 25-30 minutes, until golden brown. Leave to cool in the tin before cutting into pieces, and enjoy!
