The temperature’s soaring, the shorts are out and everyone’s in a great mood – yes, summer is here (at least for a few days)! And when the sun comes out in Blighty that can only mean one thing… barbecue season!
It just happened to coincide with this gloriously warm weather that the team at Newman’s Own got in touch to see if one of our student readers would like to review some of their range of tasty dressings and sauces – perfect for BBQs!

University of Lincoln student and Student Blogger reader James offered to review a couple of the Newman’s Own sauces for us – Newman’s Own Smokin’ Hotdog Sauce and Hot Pepper Sauce. Here’s what he thought…
Smokin’ Hotdog Sauce – Newman’s Own
‘A great American-style hotdog sauce, which of course tasted delicious liberally poured over hotdogs in crusty bread. It has a flavour consisting of American mustard and a hint of chilli, which is really satisfying. This hotdog sauce has become my new best friend for BBQ’s, sorry tomato ketchup it’s just too good!’
Hot Pepper Sauce – Newman’s Own
‘Wonderfully warm hot pepper sauce, perfect for livening up any plate and goes with nearly anything. Its great chilli flavour is fantastic thrown in with some meat in a sandwich, drizzled over a salad or stirred into a stir-fry, great ingredients, can’t go wrong.’
