New research from TravelSupermarket highlights the popularity of the package holiday 65 years after the first package flight flew from the UK to Majorca.
Over half of the nation has whisked away on a package holiday in the past with the most popular destinations on the holiday list being mainland Spain, followed closely by Greece, Mallorca, Tenerife and the other Canary Islands.
Despite the popularity of package holidays, however just under a third of Brits shy away from booking one mistakenly thinking they come with a higher price tag. Some also fear being allocated a bad hotel or getting ripped off or not being insured if something went wrong.
