The Student Blogger roadtest

We were lucky enough to get our hands on the cycling gloves and shorts to try out, and with the official Team GB branding emblazoned on the gear, they certainly made us look the part! The shorts are well-made and feature a gel seat pad, anti-slip hem and elastic fabric to help keep you comfortable on the narrowest of saddles. We tried out a women’s small (8–10) and a men’s medium (33–35″) and the sizing seemed to be accurate, although definitely not on the large side (but I guess they need to be figure-hugging!). The shorts kept their shape really well after washing and seem like they should stand the test of time. Plus they’re a real bargain at just £8.99, seeing as you could easily fork out £30+ for a pair of padded shorts in a cycle store.

The gloves are available in three colours – we tried out the black with blue and white design, which looked really smart. They have some nice features, such as a gel pad to help stop you getting blisters, terry material on the thumb to wipe away perspiration, and a velcro strap and elastic loops on the fingers to help you get them off. Again, the gloves seem to be well made and feel like they’ll last a long time – and at just £3.49 a pair, they’re another biking bargain!

If you were to get kitted out in all the Aldi Team GB cycling range, you wouldn’t look out of place at the head of a peloton – which hopefully didn’t cause too much confusion in our case, as we struggled up a rather steep hill in Richmond Park!

The Team GB Cycling range is available in stores nationwide and online from 7 July, but be quick because, as with all Specialbuys, once they’re gone they’re gone!
