Freshers’ week: the week when you finally fly the nest, you meet your new best friends, and you party all week (and night) long.
All that excitement can take its toll, and the last thing you want to be thinking about is the age old dilemma: ‘what shall I wear?!’. A lot of your nights will, no doubt, end up being spent in fancy dress (don’t forget your old school tie and Hawaiian shorts — not advisable together but, ya know, whatever floats your boat). However, those days of taster lectures, enrollment, and the mighty Freshers’ Fair are great opportunities to make a good impression (no one wants to be remembered as the person who went to their first lecture in a onesie). Take some fashion tips from us and we’ll promise that at least your style cred will remain in tact, even if your dignity maybe doesn’t (note: we cannot be held responsible for any sambuca-related incidents).
Whether you’re heading to pick up your shiny new student card or find out more about a society you’ve been dying to join, these casual campus looks are the perfect go-to outfits. Relaxed, fun, and easy to throw on with a hangover, you’ll be looking good until the evening’s festivities.
Meeting your lecturers for the first time? Or heading out for lunch with a new pal? Ditch your comfies and step out in something a bit more put together. Choose classically smart pieces such as a shirt, brogues or a blazer and team with more relaxed items such as a t-shirt or sunglasses. These looks will easily take you from a day on campus to an evening in the bar.
For the evenings when you’re not headed out as a superhero, lifeguard or in various traffic light coloured ensembles, take the opportunity to get dressed up and prove that despite a penchant for sleeping until midday and Pot Noodles for ‘breakfast’ you scrub up pretty damn well. An open shirt and great shoes is an easy go to for guys, whilst lasses can never go wrong with showing off your pins in a fun statement skirt.
